The Sky's the Limit!

New CVR Features

We’ve made some awesome updates to our ReSource CVR (Contents Valuation Report)! One of the biggest changes is the ability to easily apply and track limits. Here are some instructions on how to utilize the limits feature. This modification is an incredible addition, so if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us!

We have tried to keep everything simple and as automated as possible for your convenience. Every update made to the spreadsheet is a tool to use at your discretion and the limits will not be filled in or applied by ReSource. Please take a moment to review the updated processor, as always, your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Category Limits

Applying limits is now accomplished in just a few short steps!

On the ACV tab, select the Special Limit category you would like the item applied to.

On the Limits tab, enter the category limit and per item limit (if applicable). You will see an immediate summary of the total ACV dollars per Special Limit category and any resulting overages.

On the ACV tab, the Summary at the top of the page will automatically subtract ACV Limit Overages.

Per Item Limits

As above: On the ACV tab, select the Special Limit category you would like the item applied to. On the Limits tab, enter the category limit and per item limit (if applicable).

On the ACV tab, the per item limit will appear in column T. If the ACV is over the per item limit, the total will lower to the limit amount. The limit amount in column T will be highlighted in red to notify you that the ACV amount was changed for that line.

Ask and You Shall Receive!

Highlighted Adjuster Review Lines

Recently we were asked if it was possible to make the Adjuster Review lines stand out a little better on our Contents Valuation Report (CVR – the format in which the evaluations are returned to you). As it was, the lines were fairly easy to scroll past and miss. To address this issue we have made an update to the CVR. Now any lines marked “Adjuster Review” as the Replacement Price Source (column H) will be automatically highlighted bright yellow.

This is a great improvement but invariably we have to tell you how to return the colors to normal!

What triggers the yellow highlighting is the phrase “Adjuster Review” in column H. The simple fix is to put the cursor in column H of the highlighted row and hit delete, or type in anything else you prefer such as “Reviewed”.  Once the phrase “Adjuster Review” is removed, the color scheme returns to normal.

Since we don’t process the spreadsheet in the same manner you do, it’s very helpful to receive feedback on how the spreadsheet can be a better tool. If you have any ideas or suggestions for improvements to anything we do for you, let us know!

As always, if you have any questions or need further explanation we are more than happy to help!

These Are a Few of Our Favorite Things...

At ReSource we spend our days talking about peoples most valued items and what happened to them to result in an insurance claim. Although we enjoy hearing about the items other people cherish, what is it that ReSource employees enjoy? We asked the staff to bring pictures of a ReSource replaceable item they own which would be missed if it was lost, stolen or damaged.

Below is a collection of some of the responses we received. All of these items hold a special place in their homes from bike rides with kids and family movie nights, to meaningful jewelry and favorite hobbies.

We know that there was a reason and purpose for each item on an inventory list. It could be that the item holds a sentimental value or is just an invaluable part of daily life. We empathize with each insured and listen with an open heart to ensure we know what made it special.

We encourage you to take a moment to consider those personal treasures in your house that would impact you the most if suddenly without them. Some of the criteria we considered when choosing our items were: what items are most used, most loved, most valuable, most comforting…The answers may surprise you!

This exercise serves as a reminder that you never know what someone else considers to be important in their life, everyone values items differently! Taking a little extra time to listen can make all the difference in the world

Brain Teasers...Test Your Mental Sharpness

Answer the following questions without peeking at the answers!

1. Johnny’s mother had three children. The first child was named April. The second child was named May. What was the third child’s name?
2. A clerk at a butcher shop stands five feet ten inches tall and wears size 13 sneakers. What does he weigh?
3. Before Mt. Everest was discovered, what was the highest mountain in the world?
4. How much dirt is there in a hole that measures two feet by three feet by four feet?
5. What word in the English language is always spelled incorrectly?
6. Billie was born on December 28th, yet her birthday always falls in the summer. How is this possible?
7. In British Columbia you cannot take a picture of a man with a wooden leg. Why not?
8. If you were running a race and you passed the person in 2nd place, what place would you be in now?
9. Which is correct to say, “The yolk of the egg is white” or “The yolk of the egg are white?”
10. A farmer has five haystacks in one field and four haystacks in another. How many haystacks would he have if he combined them all in one field?

Can't figure it out?

Our brains are programmed to form patterns and make connections.  It is natural to jump to conclusions based on what we want and/or expect to see. Although this trait serves us well in a society that overloads us with information on a daily basis, the brain doesn't always get it right!
For example, the simple answer to question number one is not June but your brain sees a pattern and continues it.
This exercise can serve as a reminder that sometimes the easy answer isn't necessarily the correct one. Remember that although a certain way of thinking has worked in the past, there is always another way to look at a situation and others may not come to the same conclusions you do!

Answers
1. Johnny.
2. Meat.
3. Mt. Everest. It just wasn’t discovered yet.
4. There is no dirt in a hole.
5. Incorrectly (except when it is spelled incorrecktly).
6. Billie lives in the southern hemisphere.
7. You can’t take a picture with a wooden leg. You need a camera (or iPad or cell phone) to take a picture.
8. You would be in 2nd place. You passed the person in second place, not first.
9. Neither. Egg yolks are yellow.
10. One. If he combines all his haystacks, they all become one big stack.

Replacing Air… Jordan’s that is

Article by: Brandon F.

Michael Jordan is the man who single handedly changed the face of basketball. He is a passionate, strong, smart and determined competitor that took the floor for 14 years and made the game of basketball into a global phenomenon. We have our superstars in today’s NBA, but none will compare to the greatest. Over his career, His Airness racked up quite a resume.  Jordan’s iconic #23 jersey has actually been retired by a team that Jordan never played for. He is the greatest and most respected player of all time (even after LEBRON)!

14× NBA All-Star (19851993, 19961998, 20022003)
10× NBA scoring champion (19871993, 19961998)
10× All-NBA First Team (19871993, 19961998)
NBA All-Defensive First Team (19881993, 19961998)
NBA Rookie of the Year (1985)

Jordan's replaced on a recent ReSource claim
Air Jordan’s were released in 1984 by Nike. At the time the NBA was a white shoe only league and Michael was actually fined $5000 every game of his rookie season for wearing them. It didn’t matter. Michael was going to keep wearing the shoes, and Nike was going to keep paying him to wear them. A $5000 fine for a pair of shoes that originally cost $65 doesn’t seem like a reasonable trade off, but boy were they right in their gamble! Air Jordan took over the game and changed the way that we look at basketball players. The longer shorts, black socks, and black shoes were replacing the NBA of the past. Each championship that Jordan and the Bulls won seemed to take Jordan to a whole new level. Each season of his career Nike released a new pair of Air Jordan’s and today the retro versions of those same models are sought after by “sneakerheads” everywhere. It seemed from 1991-1998 that there was nothing bigger than the Air Jordan brand.

Today, you still see people wearing the Air Jordan’s that His Airness played with in the 80’s and 90’s. Jordan brand is now a separate entity of Nike, and Michael has strategically re-released his shoes over the years in a successful effort to keep the brand alive and desirable. These shoes normally retail for $160-180 in the store. For those who can’t wait to get your hands on a pair, IT WILL COST YOU! The re-sale or consignment business has been a booming venture when it comes to the flashy footwear. A pair regularly in stores for $180 might re-sale for anywhere up to $600 at a consignment store. That’s a lot of money for all of you sneaker lovers out there!

Here at ReSource we can help all of you sneakerheads get your kicks delivered directly to your door and back into your collection. We work with the best in the business when it comes to Jordan/Nike/Rare Footwear replacement. Let us know what you need so we can prepare you for take off in your new Air Jordan’s!

What exactly do y’all do at ReSource?

What is the million dollar question that makes each ReSource employee pause? “What do you do?” In hindsight, once you understand what we do, it doesn’t seem that it should be difficult to explain. But when faced with those 4 little words, we each find ourselves reflecting for a moment.

So, here it is: ReSource is a service that handles insurance claim content evaluations and replacements. Did you get that?

The simplest way to describe it is that we replace items which have been lost, stolen or damaged on insurance claims. Say a house burns down; imagine just how many items are in a house! Instead of getting a depreciated check from the insurance company, we send out new product from the distributor or manufacturer directly to the insured. Insureds get to skip the hassle of paying out of pocket, receipt management and waiting for reimbursement. Adjusters get to close their claims faster. Everybody wins!

Of course we can’t (and don’t want to) replace ALL of the items on a claim. There are some things that are just better off in your own hands. I may wear a size 8 pants… but if anyone asks lets go with a 4 ;-) You can see the problem right away! It wouldn’t be worthwhile for us or for an insured to replace items like clothing, toiletries, furniture, food, etc. These items are too personal and taste oriented.

Our Online Jewelry Catalog - www.replaceonline.com
Items that we can replace include: jewelry, diamonds, silver, china, electronics (such as computers, TV’s, gaming units, DVD’s, CD’s, etc), sporting goods, tools, firearms, heavy machinery, lawn equipment and much more!

Entire content lists are evaluated for like kind and quality (LKQ) replacements in today’s market. This guarantees that the insured is getting an accurate allocation to replace the items either on their own or through ReSource. A 5 year old TV is not worth what it was when it was originally purchased. Our job is to compare the old TV with new models to determine LKQ today.

So you can see why “what do you do” may cause some hesitation on our end! The answer of “content evaluation and replacement” is short but in general, not very informative.

In the end, we are here to help, in whatever way we can. Making jobs and lives easier is what we’ve done for the past 21 years, and that’s just the way we like it!
